Sunday December 14th

“Go and tell John what you are seeing and hearing.” Matthew 11, 2-11

The connection between the mission of John the Baptist and that of Jesus is clear and is expressed in the appreciation that each one sees in the other. When John’s disciples ask Jesus if He is the one expected, the answer is not just words, but concrete facts; The blind see, the lame walk, the poor receive the Good News. Jesus thus shows his special closeness to those most in need, revealing God’s definitive commitment to the humble and those who suffer, and invites us to do the same. And what hope does Jesus offer us for our lives today? How do we experience that God is committed to our history and the history of his people? What does God call us to do to grow in the faithful following of his Son Jesus?
