“Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him.” Matthew 17, 10-13

Many did not know how to see the prophetic action of John the Baptist—in the style of Elijah—and Jesus anticipates the difficulty they will have in recognizing in Him the promised Messiah. This spiritual blindness continues to challenge our faith. Identifying the signs of God requires a renewed look, a prophetic sensitivity and a heart willing to love. The Kingdom of God becomes visible in small gestures, in justice, in compassion, in the construction of the common good. What signs of God’s presence do we perceive in the world today? How does

our inner life contemplate and respond to his action in history? What prophetic gestures does the deep knowledge of Jesus drive us to?
