The Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary
“Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.” Luke 1, 26-38
Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. In the midst of waiting for the arrival of the Child, the liturgy invites us to contemplate how God acts in history through Mary, in a unique and grace-filled moment. The angel’s message resonates with the same force today: “Do not be afraid, you have found favor with God.” This certainly also belongs to us because we are loved and favored by Him. Mary responds from her truth, with simplicity and confidence, giving everything she is and everything she has. How do we experience the presence of God in our lives today? What certainties have we discovered about his work in us? How do we answer his call to us? What joy do we feel when we experience the confident waiting for the Lord who is coming?
