“One of them…, came back glorifying God.” Lk. 17:11-19

The Word invites us to review today the value of gratuitousness. Jesus is on his way to Jerusalem, He meets ten lepers, all of them ask him for healing: “Jesus Teacher, have mercy on us”.  On the way to present themselves to the priests, they are healed; but only one returns glorifying God. This is the attitude of every Christian, who, recognizing himself as fragile, is welcomed by our compassionate God, which leads him to return with humility to the encounter with the Lord to give him thanks. How many times, because we feel worthy of God’s favors, do we not promote encounters of faith to give thanks and recognize ourselves as favorites of God’s love? “On the way of salvation, it is always worthy commendable to thank God and praise him” (Bernard Haring).
