SAINT THOMAS THE APOSTLE

DO NOT BE AN UNBELIEVER, BUT A BELIEVER. John 20:24-29

The reading from the Gospel according to John (20:24-28) introduces us to Thomas, one of the disciples, who was absent when Jesus appeared to the other disciples. The doubt in Thomas upon hearing that Jesus had risen offers us a valuable lesson about faith and trust. Many times our daily lives, whether in the community, at work, or in our homes, we encounter situations that challenge our faith and fill us with doubts.

When Jesus appeared again to the disciples, this time with Thomas present, He did not rebuke him for his unbelief. Instead, He offered him the opportunity to touch his wounds and believe. This act of mercy teaches us to be patient and compassionate with those who struggle with their faith. Faith is strengthened by community and unconditional love.Thomas’ answer: “My Lord and my God.” In our daily lives, we must seek moments of encounters with Christ that allow us to strengthen our faith.
