FEAST OF THE IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY.
“MY HEART REJOICES IN THE LORD MY SAVIOUR.” 1 Sam. 2:1-4.8
Lk 2:41-51
After contemplating the tenderness of Jesus’ love, today we enter a little into the heart of his Mother. For her, her joy springs from the total trust she has placed in God, in whose hands she has left her life, she is his “Handmaid”.
There are many things in her mission as Mother of the Savior, which she does not immediately understand, but she gathers them and keeps them in her heart. She is faced with a child who is her Son, but who is the Son of the Most High. This adolescent Child already gives brushstrokes of the awareness He has of himself: He is the Son of God the Father and He has to take care of his Father’s own matters. It is not yet the time, but the day of his total dedication will come, to complete the task that the Father has entrusted to him. Mary in the Temple, in front of her adolescent Son, feels what all mothers feel: children come through them, but they are not theirs. They belong to Life, and in the case of Mary, that Son belongs to all Humanity, of whom she will be its loving and caring Mother, in the saving work of her Son.
