CELEBRATION OF THE BIRTH OF SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST. Lk. 1:57-66.80
Scripture says that the Lord sought out David, son of Jesse, and said of him: “a man to my liking who will fulfill all my desires” (Acts: 13:22). John the Baptist, whose birth we celebrate, was the man chosen by God to announce to his disciples that the Promise of the Messiah was already a reality that lived among them. John was also a man to the Lord’s liking.
We come to life with a task. It was not something fortuitous; the Lord had a purpose for me, when He called me to life and allowed me to get here. From his loving hand, we have received so many opportunities to be his witnesses and give him glory with our way of life.
Juan’s birth was great news that made the family’s neighbors happy. Let us ask the Lord today that our lives may be pleasant news for others, that our actions may bring them joy and hope. A call, a visit, a hand extended in time, small or great things will all be the presence of Jesus for our brothers and sisters.
