“I SAY TO YOU, DO NOT SWEAR AT ALL.” (Mt. 5:33-37)
Jesus continues in his instruction, proposing what should be the way of acting of those who want to follow him in the future. His friends will not act as the old Law and the social customs of their time indicated, but will be new men and women, who will shine for their honesty and rectitude, in their actions and words. Their standard of life will be Jesus himself. That is why we ask ourselves from now on: What would Jesus do in this situation? This must be the code of life that will govern those of us who have decided to follow Him. St. Paul says: “From now on we do not consider anyone with human criteria; if one is a Christian, he is a new creature, the old has passed away, the new has come.” (2 Cor. 5:16-17).
