HOLY VIRGIN MARY, MOTHER OF THE CHURCH.
Since the Ascension of Jesus to the Father, the group of Disciples has been ready to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. They were dedicating much time to prayer, accompanied by Mary Our Lady who prayed with them. Intimately united with the group of her Son’s friends, she is present at the birth of that Church, of which she will henceforth be her Mother, by the will of Jesus on the Cross.
As Mother of the Church, Mary is our Teacher of prayer, of openness and docility to the action of the Holy Spirit, Teacher of acceptance of God’s will. And as the first Disciple of her Son, she is there, accompanying that small group that will carry the light of Jesus, throughout the world. She is there to encourage, console, counsel, and encourage the followers of her Son in the struggle that the proclamation of the Kingdom will bring. That is why those of us who want to walk in the footsteps of Jesus cannot do without her. We love her and invoke her, so that she may make the journey with us.
