PENTECOST, BIRTH OF THE CHURCH

Today is a day to be filled with joy and gratitude to God. He wanted our community of faith to be his presence in the world. How many things we have received from the Lord through the Church, which, despite its shortcomings because it is human, has the strength of the Spirit that Jesus promised in his farewell Supper. Through her we have known Jesus, we have been nourished by his Word and by himself, in the bread of the Eucharist. Through her we receive the grace of forgiveness and consolation and strength in times of difficulty.

Let us recognize today the power of the Holy Spirit, always present in the Church, to be her strength in the task of illuminating the lives of men and women, with the light of the Good News of Jesus. Let us pray for her, who as a Mother has welcomed us and cared for the treasure of our faith. Let’s say to her today: Happy Birthday!! We love you! Let us thank the Lord for this gift, another among many, which He brought to us with his arrival and with his self-giving.
