JESUS ENTRUSTS THE CARE OF HIS FRIENDS TO THE FATHER. Jn. 17:11b-19

Jesus in his prayer tells the Father his concerns: what will become of his friends, when he is not physically present? That is why he insistently asks the Father to take care of them, to consecrate them in the Truth, to free them from the evil one and to keep them united, with such strength, that their union will be like that between Him and His Father.

This prayer of Jesus fills us with confidence. The Father acts and does what Jesus asks of him. Our journey, in closeness to Jesus, attracts the loving care of the Father. In the midst of the ups and downs of life, we count on the care of God, who is always with us.

Let us pray today for all those “apostles” who throughout our lives have helped us to nourish our faith, with their witness and their teaching.
