Sixth week of Easter

“If I don’t go, the Paraclete won’t come to you.” Jn. 16:5-11

Sometimes, when the leader of a group leaves, disappears, the members of the group are disoriented, they do not know what to do. They lack the word that told them where to walk, where to go, that showed them the path and the steps they had to take. It is evident that separating oneself from the lifestyle learned with Jesus entails suffering for the disciples, in some way sadness has filled their hearts. Jesus tries to dispel this sadness, caused by the diminishing of his presence, for the last thing he wants is for us to become dependent children. Yesterday and today, the Gospel requires men and women, adults, free and responsible…capable of participating with their initiative and creativity. They will be helped with the light and strength of the Spirit in the construction of the Kingdom. They will become people capable of facing the conflicts and complicated situations that they will encounter throughout their lives, while being faithful to the mandate of love that Jesus left us.
