April 20 In Jesus, God has conquered evil and death. Jn.20:1-9

On this first day of the week, already illuminated by the Resurrection of Jesus, the Gospel invites us to join those who continue to seek Jesus in the darkness, those who accompanied him at the crossside and perhaps went to the tomb where they had laid him. Mary Magdalene, moved by that deep love that united her to Jesus, rises early and goes to the tomb when it was not yet dawn; she finds that the stone has been removed from the tomb and surprised, she runs in search of the two disciples Peter and John; and it is John, the beloved disciple, who arrives first and sees that the tomb is empty, Peter also verifies it and believes, and then they understand that Jesus was to rise again as Scripture says. This is how love, illuminated by faith and the Word of God, makes it possible to grasp in the empty tomb and darkness of a world without light, that Jesus is alive and that in him God has conquered evil and death.
