“One is your teacher, and you are all brothers and sisters.” (Mt. 23:1-12)

The invitation that Jesus makes to us today is radical. The ‘synodal’ community that He proposes to us demands the renunciation of appearances, of the social scales that place some people higher than others. to strengthen the name of the “Father”, which still in almost all cultures is imposed on the other qualifiers. “One is your Father, and you are all brothers and sisters…” The Synod begins to come to life in the Gospel, in the very words of Jesus. “Whoever wants to be the first should be the last and the servant of all.” Thus, ranks, phylacteries, titles, bows, banquets, places of power…, all of this must be replaced by the attitude of the servant, from humility, like the only One whom we must call Master: our Messiah.
