“Choose life.” (Deut. 30:19)

We have begun Lent, and today we hear from the book of Deuteronomy that we are on the way, that the path proposes various paths to us. “Choose life,” advises us the wisdom of a people who lost 40 years in search of the promised land. When he writes this text, he is already in it, he already knows idols (idol is a false God who demands human lives). It is enough to look around the world map to locate the idols that it places in our cell phones, in the street, among friends, in the country, in all the wars and polarizations. Jesus tells us today: “Whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it. What good does it do you to gain the whole world if you lose or ruin yourself?”  Life, where do we find it? Who can be trusted to show us the right path?
