St. Peter Damian, Bishop and Doctor of the Church

“Whoever wants to save his life will lose it.” Mk. 8:34-9:1

Jesus’ call to everyone who wants to follow him, including us today, has some demands: deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him. If we all understand that God is love and that life comes from him, it is easy to understand that his kingdom must be one of love, communion, brotherhood, peace, justice, dedication, service, freedom and solidarity, so we can ask ourselves: What cross does the Gospel speak of? It is clear to understand that it is not a matter of living the martyrdom that Jesus suffered in the same way, but of facing the forces of the world that seek to distance us from God. This requires us to go against the current of a materialistic and individualistic society, where injustice and power reign. Do I take the risk of defending Kingdom values in the society where I live?
