Saint Agatha, Virgin and Martyr

“No one is a prophet in his own land” Mk. 6:1-6

This is what happens with Jesus, when He discusses the Scriptures in the synagogue of Nazareth, where He had grown up. His countrymen initially admired him for his words, but then they get angry and try to execute him. They have passed from one place to the other precisely because the Word of God is something different from the human word. In fact, God speaks to us of the Son, that is, the Word of God is Jesus, Jesus himself and Jesus is a cause of scandal. The Cross of Christ scandalizes. And that is the strength of the Word of God: Jesus Christ, the Lord. And how should we receive God’s Word? How Jesus Christ is received. The Church tells us that Jesus is present in Scripture, in his Word. (Meditation of Pope Francis).
