We are God’s children now.

This is a reading full of hope.  The coming of Christ has redefined God’s people to include all.  The love bestowed on us makes us now God’s children.  Living in a world with such dehumanization and violence makes it difficult to stay rooted in this hope. John reminds us that “what we shall be has not yet been revealed,” yet we will be like him and we will see God as he is.  With this hope, however, comes a call: we are to break free of all that is disordered…all that is contrary to God’s way.  Pray for the grace to embrace fully this hope and to become single-minded in our journey.
