THE MANGER

For Christians, the manger is the depiction of the birth of Jesus, of the love of God in the smallness of a child. “Jacob begot Joseph, the husband of Mary, from whom Jesus, called Christ, was born.” (Mt 1:1-17) Let us contemplate each of these characters: Joseph, the man of contemplative silence; Mary, the woman of the generous and risky YES, the shepherds, men and women open to the faith. With the donkey, the ox and the sheep, let us open ourselves to welcome with humility and simplicity. May we be heralds of good news like angels and tireless seekers of God like the Magi. This Christmas, let us be guided by the light of the star.
