“The good woman gave little, but she gave with humility.” Lk. 21:1-4

Jesus brings to us today the person of the widowed woman, not only to recognize her and dignify her in her role as a woman, but to give her a place in society. Then what He wants is to expose a society that is motivated by interactions of appearance, power, and having, and not by the great value of the human being which is simplicity of heart that moves him to give from a generous love, without expecting rewards: “I assure you that this poor widow has put in more than everyone else”. She has given what she had to live on.

The attitude of this widow is a lesson in solidarity, detachment, and abandonment to God’s providence.

Do I possess attitudes of detachment and generosity in the manner that Jesus instructs?
