“If only they understood what leads to peace!” Lk. 19:41-44

The texts of today’s liturgy invite us to contemplate the path that leads to peace. Jesus sets his gaze on the city of Jerusalem, the city of peace, but when He sees what is happening, He feels a deep sadness and weeps and expresses a warning: “If only you, too, would recognize what leads to peace.” It is Jesus’ challenge today to invite us to work for peace, especially where the pain of so much massacre, genocide, because of possession and accumulation, abounds; Jesus today weeps for Palestine, Israel, Sudan, Ukraine, Russia and Haiti. And what to say about our own countries?

What can I do about conflict, displacement, poverty and death?
