“Be prepared for that day.” (Lk. 17:26-27).
Today’s Gospel is the invitation to live watchful and open to conversion by delving into a spiritual life that is a guarantee of being prepared for the definitive encounter with the Father. In the Old Testament, in the time of Noah and Lot, people lived in situations of a life immersed in the pleasures of the world and the loss of the meaning. In the same way today, too, it is urgent to look back at the fundamentals; detachment of the unnecessary material and ephemeral things, to discard baggage in order to be vigilant, with an eye on what is most important, which is to focus on the values of the Gospel, the radical love for our brothers and sisters. It is time not to blame God for the crises of injustice, wars, famines, death and poverty, since they are a consequence of the greed and ambition of the great powers.
