“Truly I say to you, no prophet is welcome in his own land.” (Luke 4:16-30)

For Jesus, his mission among the people who saw him grow up was not easy. For them, Jesus was one of their own townspeople…how to discover and understand the mystery that surrounds Mary, Joseph and their son, Jesus? Their expectations of the coming of the Messiah were different. The prophecy that Jesus proclaims is totally fulfilled in Him, in His being as a person and His mission to be Good News for the poor: to restore sight to the blind and freedom to the imprisoned and oppressed, a mission that He has already begun and will carry out to the last consequences. Despite having been admired because of his words and his testimony, the prediction is fulfilled: “No prophet is well received in his own land”, and He could not perform any miracle there because they had no faith. Am I able to discover the living presence of Jesus in my brothers and sisters?
