“You received it for free, give it freely.” Mt. 10:7-15

Among the recommendations that Jesus makes to his disciples, the invitation to live in gratuitousness resonates especially in today’s culture.

Today, society demands that everything must have a price, a time, a reward because if it is not worth anything, it is not significant.

Jesus’ logic is just the opposite. We have been given everything in God and we have not had to do anything. That is why He asks us to give with the same generosity, love, goodness with which He has given himself to us.

The monastic life is a beautiful example of this way of living the Gospel that Jesus proposes to us. In the eyes of the world they are wasting their lives, without producing with the logic of capitalism or without appearing in all the media with virtual strategies. It is a beautiful way to protest against the idea of profit, appearance and vanity. Thanks to St. Benedict for opening the way for monastic life in the West.
