“Take heed that you do not practice your righteousness before others…” Matthew 6:1
I can’t do good deeds just to be seen. I need to seek God’s glory when I do things; This is the real reward. Jesus Christ says it very clearly: “Do not practice righteousness before others…” Sincerity of life demands purity of intention. This is achieved in “intimacy with the Father”, that is, in prayer. When I perform acts, whatever they may be, I cannot be left with the reward of good thoughts about me on the part of others; that is acting out of vanity. However, when my goal is to glorify God with my life, my works will receive “a reward in heaven.”
