“Thou shalt not kill.” Matthew 5:21
In this passage from Matthew’s gospel, Jesus presents himself as the fulfillment of the Law and the prophets. God has been guiding his people and demanding from them the fulfillment of the Law as a way of unification and gathering of the chosen people. Their faithfulness to Yahweh was manifested in their following that law. But now God has completed His covenant by sending the Savior and in Him and through Him, He manifests His new covenant in love.
This love of the disciples of Jesus can have no other limit than that of radical, total, and definitive dedication to God and to their brothers and sisters.
