We do not exhaust in one Easter the meaning of the joy of the Risen One. Jesus comforts his friends before passing through the cross; He speaks to them of the sorrow that “the world” produces, and of the joy that He promises. This Easter, let us ask ourselves: what brings us comfort and joy? Our Lady is able to sing of her joy, even though she is the Mother of all women who mourn in copious tears the loss of women who have lost their children to violence, famine, migration. Mary and the disciples suffered in their hearts the cross of their Lord, but the testimony of the joy of the Risen One was greater than all that had happened. They all witnessed the birth of a hope of which we are now the bearers, as was Jeanne de Lestonnac, who was certain that: “It is in difficulties that virtue is tested”.
