“We will dwell in him”

The 14th chapter of Saint John has been titled in some Bibles, “The Father and I.” It narrates a discourse by Jesus in the context of the Last Supper, with some interruptions by the questioning disciples. In the passage that is proposed to us today, Jesus does not properly answer the “curious” question of Judas. He is sharing with his family his deepest feelings about what is to come… his experience of relationship with the Father… giving them the latest recommendations… It is to be read, looking Jesus in the eye, and listening, with admiration, to two revelations that are enough to fill us with hope and gratitude: “If anyone loves me… we will come to him and dwell in him.” And the second: “The Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will be the one who will teach you everything and remind you of what I have told you.” Listen, pray, worship God in you!
