WEDNESDAY 20

JOHN 8:31-42

“… THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.”

Jesus tells us to do our best to follow what He asks of us because He knows our humanity, and yet He always waits for us. What would we say to him and what would we feel if Jesus Christ said to us today: “If you remain faithful to my word, you will truly be my disciples, you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free”? What is required of us to do this?

Being a disciple of Jesus is the same as opening oneself to God. His words are actually God’s word because they communicate the truth; they make things known as they are in God’s eyes and not in the eyes of the Pharisees. Later, during the Last Supper, Jesus will teach the same thing to the disciples.
