MARK 12:28B-34
“YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.”
In response to the lawyer’s question about the first of all the commandments, Jesus reminds him of the two most important truths: He has come to communicate that our God is unique, and that we must live love intensely, loving God, our neighbor and ourselves. If we do this, our love will be generous, because sometimes it is not true, which is why Jesus perfected this precept by telling his disciples to love one another as he has loved them, in the dimension of the cross. To love even in contradictions, to love in spite of defects. Our frailties are loved by God. If we discover this gratuitous love with which we are loved, we will reflect it in each of our small acts and we will not be so far from the Kingdom of Heaven.
