MATTHEW 18:21-35
“HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO FORGIVE?”
Seventy times seven. This is not a mathematical operation, but the reiteration of the proposal of the Kingdom of God reflected in the life and words of Jesus. God is the one who offers us forgiveness, his offer is for life, and in any of the circumstances, forgiveness is a total offer of God to human beings That is why he will say on the cross: “forgive them because they know not what they do”. In faith, the same gift that we have received is required of us; Always forgive, even if it costs us. By forgiving we become masters of our hearts, we do not give in to the rhythm of the pain we have received, nor to the undertone of the hatred or resentment that has been generated. We live for Jesus in a free and authentic way when we forgive those who offend us. Let us reflect: why, having experienced God’s forgiveness in our lives, do we find it so difficult to forgive our brothers and sisters?
