“My eyes have seen your salvation that You have prepared…” (Lk. 2:22-40)

On the feast of the Presentation of the Lord in the temple, the figures of Simeon and Anna stand out, charged with symbolic value. They have the task of recognition, which comes both from the illumination and movement of the Spirit, as well as from a life led in the most intense and trusting expectation. That is why in the Gospel, these two elders have the wisdom that comes with the years to recognize the light, to say a suitable word, to trust and entrust themselves to God, to give thanks from the heart, to bring the Good News to others.

In the same way, the Gospel highlights Jesus as Light, “Light that enlightens all nations”. It highlights how “this child brings peace.” This peace takes on the faces of freedom, justice, truth, solidarity, respect, fraternity.

With deep faith, let us ask today for the gift of peace in our lives, but especially in all those places and countries where a prompt solution is required.
