“Unclean spirit, come out of this man.” Mk. 5:1-20

The text of today’s Gospel tells us of a man possessed by an unclean spirit…a spirit that had robbed him of his inner peace and the meaning of life. This story allows us to ask ourselves: what spirits make us cringe and rob us of the joy of living? This year we are going to delve into the exercise of listening because it is good for us to become aware that sometimes the fear of listening is deep down, the fear of accepting failure, the fear of recognizing the part of responsibility we have in what the other has communicated to us. No one had the strength to tame the unclean spirit that possessed the leper. On many occasions we lack the courage to listen, especially when there is no coincidence with our own expectations. Let us ask the Lord for the grace to listen above all to our mistakes and failures so that, by learning from them, we can grow as good human beings.
