“He sends seed, sleeps, and the seed grows without him knowing how” Mk. 4:26-34

Nature reveals to us in each of its species a great diversity of shapes and sizes. Seeds are an example of this, and today Jesus invites us to fix our gaze on the seed that grows without us knowing how. At first, He wants to draw our attention to its origin, specifically its size: its smallness. In a second moment, He invites us to become aware of his growth process: “It grows without the sower knowing how.” Jesus shows us how, in a small way, the Kingdom of God is built. It is from the most fragile that salvation happens. In the ordinariness of life, may we discover the seed that germinates in silence, in the hidden, and may we become water to enable its germination and growth.
