Christmas Time

ST. BASIL THE GREAT AND ST.  GREGORY OF NAZIANZUS, BISHOPS AND DOCTORS OF THE CHURCH.

“Let what you have heard from the beginning remain in you”

1 Jn. 2:22-28

The apostle John, in his first letter, invites us to abide in what we have heard from the beginning. What have we heard? What we have received from our families and from the Christian tradition; the message that Christmas brings us: God has given us a Savior: Jesus. The best way for it to remain in us is as Mary teaches us: by keeping it in our hearts. Let us do as she did: let us meditate, let us prolong the taste of Christmas within us. St. John’s invitation is that the Incarnation of God may be permanent in our lives. Jesus is born when it is possible for his values and his way of life to be actualized in the context in which each one develops. In this way we allow Jesus to remain, let us make it a reality.
