Christmas Time
HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF GOD, solemnity
“The shepherds returned, giving glory and praise to God for what they had seen and heard” (Lk. 2,16-21)
As we begin the year 2024, the liturgy of the Church invites us to celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God. Beginning the year looking at Mary is a source of hope for all of us because she listened to God with an open heart when the angel Gabriel appeared to her to invite her to risk everything and thus make it possible for Jesus to be born. In keeping with today’s Gospel, shepherds praise and glorify God for all that they have seen and heard. What have we heard in the last few days? We have heard that God assumes our humanity and desires to count on us so that Jesus continues to be born today.
