“The Spirit of Truth, which proceeds from the Father, shall bear witness to me.” Jn. 15:26, 16, 1-4b
How we long to know Jesus! Today’s text gives us the key: it is his Spirit in us who leads us to the knowledge of the Truth, which is Jesus. It is the Spirit of the Lord who teaches us, so that, filled with that wisdom that the knowledge of the Lord gives, we may be his witnesses: first with our lives, our gestures of love and generosity, and also with our words that, from the inner knowledge of the Lord, will have the necessary strength to touch the hearts of others. And Jesus continues to proclaim and call us to be his witnesses, to walk and to identify ourselves with him, which does not always have the welcome that is expected of all people. But He himself gives us the strength not to give in to the sense of emptiness because he promised not to leave us alone and thus, his Spirit is that ever-present companion that always encourages us in our journey.
