“I will ask the Father to give you another Defender.” Jn. 14:15-21

Let us enter a little into the hearts of the disciples. Jesus that night does not look like his usual self; He has said things that they do not quite understand. Faced with the sadness of the disciples who already understand that Jesus will soon not be with them, in the face of that feeling of orphanhood that is breathed, Jesus says: “Courage, I am not going to leave you alone…, besides, the Father will give you a Defender”. Jesus highlights the image of the Holy Spirit as an advocate who defends and is always present in the lives of his friends. Let us be grateful today for so many gifts from the Lord that eloquently express his overflowing love for us; his Spirit to accompany us, himself, made bread to strengthen us, his gift on the cross, to pay off our debt to the Father, the gift of Mary, his Mother. That is Jesus, our Friend.
