They laid the sick in the marketplaces (Mk. 6:53-56)

Mark often provides little detail in his accounts, yet this reading includes many significant elements. Jesus is recognized, the people scurry to bring the sick on straw mats, they hunt him down as he moves from village to village, they begged him to allow them to touch the tassel on his cloak. Then there is the most important point: as many as touched it were healed. Every time we enter prayer, we are to bring the totality of ourselves trusting that nothing will remain untouched by Jesus. God is always at work in us, but it will be in His way and in His time. What are the parts within us that feel broken, those parts that need His healing touch.
