“We, the Church, the Baptized by the Spirit of Jesus” Jn. 1:29-34
Last Sunday we prayed about the Baptism of Jesus; today we focus on us, baptized by his Spirit. The first Christians wanted to distinguish themselves from the followers of the Baptist, whose external rite did not transform. Christians allowed themselves to be transformed by the Spirit of Jesus. Forgetting this is deadly for the Church because the real faith is what the Spirit awakens in the hearts of the followers of Jesus in the Church. Many do not know or love Jesus; they believe what the Church or the experts say, but they do not experience what He lived. Today it is necessary to narrate his figure, to teach to know and love the Jesus of the Gospel, to live with his style and his Spirit. To recover the “baptism of the Spirit” is the first task of the Church. What can we do to attain this?
