“This is a list of the ancestors of Jesus Christ, who was a descendant of David and Abraham.” Matthew 1, 1-17

The list of ancestors invites us to recognize ourselves as part of the generations that have opened themselves to being an expression of the action of God the Father in history. In that long list there are names, specific faces, real lives with their lights and shadows, with their successes and errors, with sincere searches and also with human frailties. In each of them, God has known how to manifest his presence and his fidelity. Let us ask ourselves: Who have been for us the visible presence of God in our lives? Are we that presence for anyone right now? What is the contribution from our personal history to the great story of Salvation that God continues to write with us?
