“The Son has come to save what has been lost.” Lk. 19:1-10

The encounter between Jesus and Zacchaeus is a challenging passage for the society of our time. Jesus stops, invites him to be with Him and is invited to eat at His house. Zacchaeus was a tax collector, a man who was frowned upon and rejected for enriching himself with the work of the poor. Jesus does not look at sin but at the person and from a compassionate gaze, He focuses on what is important; their conversion, the rescue of the person and his/her inclusion into the Kingdom. Today, salvation has come to this house. Let us allow ourselves to be invited by the Lord to come out of our miseries, to let him enter our hearts and save our lives, let us enjoy his mercy.

May today’s gaze be one of compassion, without judging others in their vulnerabilities.
