October, Mission Month: “Missionaries of Hope among Peoples”

October is for the Church a special time of missionary commitment and prayer. In 2025, the Company of Mary joins the 99th World Mission Sunday (DOMUND) under the theme “Missionaries of hope among peoples,” reminding us that the whole Church is sent forth and that our mission is to carry the Good News with joy and hope in the style of Jesus and Mary.

Throughout the month we share reflections, testimonies, and insights that inspire us to live the mission today: we recall that DOMUND was established in 1926 by Pope Pius XI and is now celebrated on the same day in more than 120 countries; that the Pontifical Mission Societies support over 1,100 mission territories worldwide through pastoral, educational, health, and formation projects; and that in the Company of Mary, mission comes alive in more than 25 countries—through schools, the accompaniment of vocations, projects with vulnerable communities, and in every gesture of service and dedication.

In 2025 we prepare to celebrate the 100th anniversary of DOMUND in 2026, an occasion that calls us to renew our commitment to proclaim and bear witness to the faith through works of justice, closeness, and hope.

Living Mission Month means opening our hearts to a universal horizon that reminds us that the whole Church is missionary, and that each one of us, from our own reality, is called to be a missionary of hope among peoples.
