Where does this man get that wisdom and those miracles? Mt. 13:54-58
Chapter 13 of Matthew which we will finish bringing to prayer today, offers us eight parables taken from everyday life, that life that Jesus shared in his family and with his countrymen. Today we can hear the reactions of the Nazarenes, who have heard what Jesus does and teaches throughout Galilee. They are puzzled. They agree that Jesus has neither the ancestry nor the training to be a person with that pretended wisdom. Therefore, the logical question: “where does He get all that?” Today we are invited to look at our everyday lives, “in the manner of Jesus”. Speaking of parables, C. Mesters wrote, “God has something to do with our life and our life has something to do with God.”
And if we review today in prayer, what we have learned and tasted in the “university of life”: nature, our relationships, our mistakes…and also the story that we are weaving…perhaps we can say that what our life has to do with God is not only “something” but “a lot”. Let us enter into that tone of prayer.
