SAVE US, LORD, WE ARE GOING TO DROWN. Matthew 8:23-27
It seems that the Lord sleeps when we need Him most. We seek to do the good we can every day, to bear witness to our faith, to carry out some activity of apostolate or service to those in need. But many times we find ourselves on the road only with contrary winds. And on more than one occasion the storm has risen around our boat… But He’s there. Even though everything is dark, Christ never abandons us. Even if everything is shaken and it seems that there is no secure point, He remains forever… even in the storm.
It is normal to be scared in the storm. Christ does not ask us to be insensitive, but He does ask that our faith be greater than fear. He asks us to trust in him, because his presence is enough for us in difficulty. Trusting Him means fighting even in storms… Trusting in Him means keeping hope alive: to keep rowing, to hold the rudder tightly to the other shore.
