“They say, but they don’t do.” Matthew 23:1-12

Jesus openly criticizes the religious leaders of his day for their hypocrisy and inauthenticity because they hinder the path of others to salvation by their example. These words are still very current: our actions and words have an impact that goes beyond ourselves. This passage challenges us to examine our own lives, to be authentic in faith, and responsible in what we do and say.
