“Blessed are their eyes, for they see this.” Matthew 13:10-17.
The disciples say to Jesus: why are you talking to them by telling parables? Jesus answers, because they look and don’t see, they hear and they don’t hear, they don’t understand. Jesus, as a good pedagogue, is thinking of everyone, but especially of those with a hardened heart. He knows that to reach them He must use simple language, the fruit of their daily lives. What Jesus sows is the Word of the Kingdom”, each parable is an invitation to pass from an old world, to a new world, full of life, just as God wants. If we don’t tune in to Jesus, we will hardly understand his parables. We must have ears that listen, eyes that stop to look, and a heart that is sensitive to “feeling and tasting” the Lord’s message. How are we sowing the Gospel in our communities?
