Saint Mary Magdalene.

Today we celebrate, with Mary Magdalene, the thirst in our search for the Risen Lord. Her witness, a symbol of renewal of the passage from death to life, not only comforts us in our doubts, but encourages us to live, with greater meaning, our being as persons. Mary Magdalene searches for the crucified one in the midst of darkness, “while it was still dark”, and as is natural, she looks for him in the “tomb”. She still does not know that death has been conquered. That is why the emptiness of the tomb leaves her bewildered. Without Jesus, she feels lost. “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, He is risen.” It is decisive not to forget Jesus, to love him passionately and to seek him with all our strength, but not in the world of the dead. “Those who live must be sought where there is life. Men can destroy life in a thousand ways, but if God has raised Jesus from the dead, this means that He only wants life for his children” (Pagola).
