Mk. 12:28-34 “If you confess that love is the most important thing, you are not far from the Kingdom of God.”

This affirmation, which can be deduced from today’s Gospel, may seem obvious to us, but if we reflect on it against the background of the reality in which we move in this individualistic society, we realize that the love of which today’s Gospel speaks is not properly the one that many refer to when they speak of love. Jesus with his life is the one who shows us what it is to truly love God and neighbor: his life dedicated to healing, to forgive, to liberate, to reveal to us God as the Father of all who wants no one to be lost, it is He who shows us what it is to love and tells us with all authority; “Love one another as I have loved you.” The Encyclical Dilexit Us, which Pope Francis left us as his testament, can help us to delve into the depth of love for God and neighbor.
