Fifth Sunday of Lent March 22

“Lazarus, come out!” “Untie him and let him go.” Jn. 11:1-45

The resurrection of Lazarus introduces us to one of the most human and profound moments of the Gospel. Jesus arrives when all seems lost. Faced with this situation, He does not respond with explanations, but with presence. He is not indifferent to human suffering. And, in the midst of mourning, He pronounces one of the most decisive affirmations of faith: I am the resurrection and the life.” Life returns where there seemed to be no way out. Jesus asks for the collaboration of others: “Untie him and let him walk.” The resurrection is a gift from God, but community helps to liberate. Do we dare to trust when everything seems over? Jesus continues to pronounce words of life over our “daily deaths” in order to go out, untie ourselves, and set out on our way.
